]]>‘Flashdance’ is another banger from the club-focused Golden Recordings label, as Claptone layers hair-raising synth stabs over an anthemic house beat. A collaboration with New York icon Man Parrish, the track is a ready-made crowd pleaser, replete with intricate percussion, long snare build ups and huge bass-heavy drops.
"I’ve always been in love with early 80s HipHop and Electro, a time when HipHop wasn’t just Rap Music but was not thinkable without Breakdance and Graffiti. These different outlets of expression brought musicians, dancers and artists together and felt much more colorful and open than some years later when MTV discovered Rap Music in which rappers constantly displayed their machismo”, says Claptone. “Also musically that era was quite spectacular with DJs extending breaks from soul and disco records on one hand and crews producing their own music on cheap electronic equipment on the other. I fell in love with both but even more so with early electro based on Kraftwerk but with a danceable twist. One of the heroes of that music is undoubtedly Man Parrish who produced a string of amazing tracks like ‘Hip Hop, Be Bop’, ‘Male Stripper‘ and of course ‘Man Made‘ amongst others. I’m beyond thrilled about my new single ‘Flashdance‘, which sound-beams ‘Boogie Down Bronx‘ straight to 2023. Working with Man Parrish is nothing less than a dream come true. Music would surely not be the same without him.”
Proclaimed as the “Godfather Of Electronic Music” by the New York Times, Man Parrish is a founding force behind EDM and a legend of the New York scene. He has sold over five million records worldwide, plus an additional 80 million through the distribution and sales of the hugely popular Grand Theft Auto video games that contain his music.
Claptone has dropped 3 artist albums ‘Charmer’ (2015), ‘Fantast’ (2019) and ‘Closer’ ‘2022’ over the past 8 years including singles like ‘No Eyes’, ‘Heartbeat’, ‘Under The Moon’, ‘Queen of Ice’ and ‘Just A Ghost’. Well known for his remix work, including his reimagining of Gregory Porter’s ‘Liquid Spirit’, his uplifting and vocal-heavy style of house has gone on to rack up millions of plays on YouTube, with his Spotify currently enjoying over four million monthly listeners. More recently he has remixed tracks from superstars Elton John, Dua Lipa, Gorillaz, Mark Ronson, Depeche Mode, Ava Max, Rufus du Sol, Pet Shop Boys, Michael Kiwanuka, Rag’n’Bone Man, New Order and more.
The Venetian mask-donning producer also launched the immersive and otherworldly ‘The Masquerade’ events in 2017, with guests including Fatboy Slim, MK, Purple Disco Machine, James Hype, Vintage Culture, Armand Van Helden, John Summit, Meduza, Faithless, Nora En Pure and Pete Tong joining the fun across showcases in Australia, South America, North America, London, Paris, Amsterdam and multiple seasons at Pacha Ibiza - the latest of which has just kicked off for the summer.
Now with his own recently launched record label, Golden Recordings, Claptone is increasing his stratospheric reach of influence. With Man Parrish as his latest iconic collaborator, ‘Flashdance’ is set to become one of the biggest club anthems of the summer.

“I created Golden Recordings to celebrate House Music and its everlasting golden era. To revel in its strong roots as well as its diversity and open mindedness, which bring forth new sounds and flavors every day. May it continue for another eternity in this and at least 3294 other parallel universes.”
First single ‘Euphoria’ announces Golden Recordings with a bang, as Claptone fixes a classic keyboard riff to an anthemic house beat. True to the club scene focus of the new label, the track is a ready-made crowd pleaser, replete with intricate percussion, long snare build ups and huge bass-heavy drops.
“With all the great songs I have released recently and all the vocal-heavy productions out there today, I felt it was time to produce a straight up, fully instrumental club track, to start off my new label Golden Recordings properly. You could say I wanted to let the music speak for itself, and sonically evoke a feeling of intense excitement and pure bliss. It’s highly contagious, but luckily it’s ‘Euphoria’."
Now with his own record label, Claptone is increasing his stratospheric reach of influence. If first release ‘Euphoria’ is anything to go by, Golden Recordings promises to be home to some of the biggest club anthems in the house scene.
‘Digging Deeper’ is a soaring moment of euphoria - melodic and evocative in equal measure. Loaded with arpeggiators and twinkling synthesiser toplines, the vivid track fully utilises Alison’s signature celestial vocals across the vibrant and progressive runtime.
Alison Goldfrapp and Claptone form a perfect collaboration, inviting the listener to fully succumb to this intoxicating club concoction.
In Alison’s own words: “In Digging Deeper, I’m effortlessly gliding through air, on a gloriously hot breezy night arriving at a blissed-out dancefloor on the island of my dreams.”
Claptone expands: "When Alison Goldfrapp asked me to collaborate, it was a no brainer for me. I’ve always been enchanted by the magic world she created and her stunning voice, so I was really happy that we could merge our trickery to create Digging Deeper."
Digging Deeper is a dazzling showcase of what is to come this year from an iconic music tour de force and is just the beginning; expect to hear much more from Alison Goldfrapp very soon.

Continuing the run of outstanding collaborations, ‘Queen of Ice’ now sees the enigmatic artist work with the Canadian pop band Dizzy, remixed by the undisputed Queen of deep house Nora En Pure. The release is set for January 7th via Different Recordings.
It's the seventh single release from the forthcoming 'Closer', Claptone’s third studio album, which is co-produced by Stuart Price (Dua Lipa, The Killers, Madonna). Nora En Pure treats the original with the utmost respect and delivers a beautiful, deep alternative.
“When Nora handed in her ‘Queen of Ice’ Remix I instantly recognized that we are onto something special here. It's not a secret the original is one of my favourite tracks of my new album, but this remix pushes it to a new level.” - Claptone.
Globally renowned and adored for her cinematic soundscapes and ethereal performances, South African-born, Swiss-based Queen of deep house, Nora En Pure, has spent the last few years working relentlessly to reach the pinnacle of the dance music scene. Proving her eminence with every performance, playing stand out shows at the likes of Coachella, Burning Man, Tomorrowland and Panorama NYC, Daniela Di Lillo is a true force with an indomitable work ethic and an eye for immaculate detail.
Nurturing her Purified brand with expert precision, Purified Radio blossomed into a weekly show, premiering every Saturday evening on SiriusXM Chill with an hour-long dose of the finest deep, melodic and tech house music. Curating lineups and hosting sold-out Purified events in Miami, New York, San Francisco, Palm Springs, Zürich, Prague, Montréal, London and Washington, DC. Winning the award for Best Female Artist (House) in the IDMA Awards in 2019 and 2020, the Helvetic Nerd entered the DJ Mag Top 100 in 2020, and climbed to #59 in the 2021 DJ Mag Main Chart and maintained her position at #10 in the Alternative Charts.
Dizzy is a dream pop project, fronted by Katie Munshaw and based out of Canada. The critically acclaimed Dizzy project has become known for its warm and open-hearted songwriting, which has drawn praise from the likes of Stereogum, NME, Dork, Coup de Main, Line of Best Fit, BBC, and NPR and accolades such a JUNO Award for Alternative Album of the Year.
The announcement of ‘Queen of Ice’ follows the previous album single releases of ‘Right Into You’, ‘Just A Ghost feat Seal’, ‘Zero’, ‘My Night’ feat. APRE and ‘Wake Up’ feat James Vincent McMorrow and ‘Golden’ feat Two Another - all unveiled throughout 2021 leading into the release of 'Closer' in late November 2021.
Claptone ft. Dizzy – ‘Queen of Ice’ (Nora En Pure Remix) is out January 7th via Different Recordings [PIAS]
Claptone releases his third studio album, Closer on Nov 12th via Different Recordings / PIAS, featuring a string of collaborators and pop icons including Barry Manilow, Seal and many more.
Closer has been in the making for over three years and showcases a natural development in sound for Claptone. The album has been co-produced by Stuart Price, the three-time Grammy-winning electronic musician, DJ, songwriter, and record producer known for his work with artists such as Madonna, The Killers, Dua Lipa and Pet Shop Boys. The aptly titled album is the next phase of the enigmatic artist’s musical evolution following the 2018 LP, Fantast and the 2015 debut, Charmer.
“Closer is about the joy and sometimes the pain of being human. It’s an ode to togetherness as well as empowerment, to heartache as well as bliss. I celebrate emotions. I allow myself to get closer to human beings and be human on the quest for my soul. Charmer was merely an introduction from a mystic being coming out of the shadows. On Fantast, I tried to find my roots in nature, and it was more of an escapist album, whereas Closer embraces people and the universe inside them.” – Claptone
Joining Claptone on his mission to embrace people, the album features a host of diverse global collaborators. Peter Bjorn and John take centre stage on Satellite, with Seal providing original vocals on Just A Ghost. The album balances both iconic names with established artists and exciting new talent as Claptone enlists Mayer Hawthorne, Mansionair, APRE, Dizzy, SPELLES, lau.ra, Two Another and long-time Claptone collaborator, Nathan Nicholson, ex-singer of The Boxer Rebellion.
Closer also features a surprise and intriguing pairing between Claptone and American pop icon and showman, Barry Manilow. A further exhibition of Claptone’s critical acclaim which spans across the realms of the underground to Pop Music, the collaboration took flight when Claptone noticed Barry Manilow taking part in a TV interview where he mentioned that his favourite act was “Some guy named Claptone”. “So, I hit him up. He was like, ‘let’s do something’!” Manilow (whose career spans 50 years with hits such as Mandy and Copacabana) said “he was looking for a Dusty Springfield/Pet Shop Boys moment”. That moment has now arrived, with Barry Manilow featuring on standout album track, Nobody.
“I am a perfectionist full stop. I wrote those songs and I love those songs. And I am very happy with the outcome. Here is so much substance. I love to work with unique voices, unique characters. This pushes me to deliver the best in production as well.” – Claptone
The release of Closer follows a run of singles throughout the year including ’Queen Of Ice’ feat Dizzy, ‘Right Into You’ feat Like Mike and Mansionaire, ‘Just A Ghost feat Seal’, ‘Zero’, ‘My Night’ feat APRE, ‘Wake Up’ feat James Vincent McMorrow and ‘Golden’ feat Two Another. Claptone has also recently provided official remixes of Storm Queen’s For A Fool, Trans-X’s Living on Video, as well as reworks for pop superstars Ava Max, Dua Lipa, Elton John and Mark Ronson.
“Cold Heart (Pnau Remix)” — which contains elements of John’s 1989 song “Sacrifice,” his 1972 hit “Rocket Man,” his 1976 deep cut “Where’s the Shoorah?” and his 1983 single “Kiss The Bride” — features on John’s The Lockdown Sessions, a 16-track LP with a guest list that includes Miley Cyrus, Eddie Vedder, Lil Nas X, Brandi Carlile, Gorillaz, Stevie Wonder, Stevie Nicks, Young Thug, Nicki Minaj, and the late Glen Campbell.
]]>SOFI TUKKER's world-centric brand of dance music has always been about bringing people together, and "Sun Came Up" is no exception with its intricate Spanish guitar work, made complete by Sophie's breathy and ascendant vocals.
Claptone’s mesmerizing remix amplifies the seduction of the original with beckoning synth bass. Claptone says "When I listened to 'Sun Came Up' it instantly had my mind travel to festivals, beach parties, Ibiza, that summer season that so many of us did not have. It's obvious to me that this is the perfect Song to start dancing again and don’t stop anymore even after the sun is up. Joining forces with the amazing Sofi Tukker, whom I’ve admired for years and John Summit, the upcoming DJ of the last few months has been a real pleasure. I actually played a lovely festival show this summer and Sofi Tukker came by and recently I road tested this remix when I played with John. So whenever I press play in my mind all of us, we are still dancing together…"
]]>"The deep sensuality in Seal's voice has always kept me under its spell, and of course the mystique around his persona. No doubt the stars aligned when Seal and I were working on 'Just A Ghost’ - his first original material in 6 years. By introducing him to the deep, emotive and powerful sound of Claptone my aim was to lead him back to his very own roots, to an electronic club infused but soulful sound. And I needed to do that without sacrificing the strong musical identity he built for himself over the past decades”. - Claptone.
