Fresh from announcing the huge news that ‘The Masquerade’ will be relocating to Amnesia for this year’s Ibiza season, Claptone’s first single of 2024, ‘Come With Me’ arrives in style, making use of a commanding, reverb-soaked vocal and a powerful descending synth line. Rasping hats and seismic snare build-ups complete the mix with a hands-in-the-air chorus, sending the house groove into dizzying euphoria.
The track follows his previous Golden Recordings singles ‘The Big Easy’, ‘Flashdance’, the collaboration with New York legend Man Parrish, and ‘Euphoria’, which has gained over five million Spotify streams. Golden Recordings was born to “celebrate House Music and its everlasting golden era”, in the words of Claptone himself, and is going from strength to strength with each new club-ready release. Though only launching within the last year, the label has already made its mark, ascending to the third biggest house label on Beatport with no signs of stopping.
The enigmatic DJ and producer Claptone has released three artist albums - ‘Charmer’ (2015), ‘Fantast’ (2019) and ‘Closer’ (2022) - over the past 10 years, featuring singles such as: ‘No Eyes’, ‘Heartbeat’, ‘Under The Moon’, ‘Queen of Ice’ and ‘Just A Ghost’. Well known for his remix work, including his reimagining of Gregory Porter’s ‘Liquid Spirit’, his uplifting and vocal-heavy style of house has gone on to rack up millions of plays on YouTube, with his Spotify currently enjoying over four million monthly listeners. More recently he has remixed tracks by superstars Elton John, Dua Lipa, Gorillaz, Mark Ronson, Depeche Mode, Ava Max, Rufus du Sol, Pet Shop Boys, Michael Kiwanuka, Rag’n’Bone Man, New Order and more.
The Venetian mask-donning producer also launched the immersive and otherworldly ‘The Masquerade’ events in 2017, with guests including Fatboy Slim, MK, Purple Disco Machine, James Hype, Vintage Culture, Armand Van Helden, John Summit, Meduza, Faithless, Nora En Pure and Pete Tong across showcases in Australia, South America, North America, London, Paris, Amsterdam and multiple seasons at Pacha Ibiza. 2024 marks a new era for ‘The Masquerade’, with the return to Amnesia on Tuesday nights set to bring more magic and mystery to the White Isle than ever before.
Now with his own renowned record label, Golden Recordings, Claptone is ramping up his global profile. ‘Come With Me’ is proof that 2024 is set to be another huge year for the masked DJ.
